Lofoten Islands : Two wheeled suitcases in a land of backpacks! 1 / 2

The Lofoten islands are a paradise for lovers of hiking, trailing, camping, kayaking, sailing … nevertheless you get as much joy and amazement roaming around with your little suitcase. Wherever you turn your head, it’s a bewilderment of pure beauty, wilderness, serenity and tranquility. We followed the E10 route from Narvik to A for 10 days, driving through smaller roads whenever possible, crossing ducks, sheep and goats, always ending at the “bout du bout” where you can’t go any farther , with a little port, a “rorbu” (traditional red fishing house) and a “WOW” !

We visited at the end of July enjoying the endless days, yet still mesmerised by beautiful sunset lights leaving us plenty of time to visit, hike or swim in one day. We particularly loved the vibe of Henninsvoer and its surroundings, nevertheless every single village is a blast of charm and beautiful views. It’s hard to pinpoint just a few noteworthy places, as the entire experience was worthwhile. We indulged in cinnamon buns and fish and chips, attempting to set a list of the best ones ! We also enjoyed the beautiful local craft made from local resources like the wool, the crystal and the seaweed and let’s not forget the « skrei » the « King of Cod », of course ! – Sophie, August 2024
